YES. I’m tired of all of you pretentious assholes saying that I’m not “really reading” because I use a kindle.
Yes, you are reading. You are just reading a “lesser” form of book. Reading isn’t just reading the words on a page/screen, it’s smelling the book, new or old, it’s wearing the books spine out after rereading it for the X’th time, it’s leaving crease marks on a page you flipped too fast because you were that eager to get to the next page, and most of all, it’s losing yourself in a book to the point where the world around you no longer exists. And I, for one, cannot lose myself in an electronic screen. The words of a real book take on a depth that cannot ever be recreated on anything electronic. So you may be reading a book, but you will never truly experience a book unless you read it in a printed medium.
lol this pretentious bullshit. “The words of a real book take on a depth that cannot ever be recreated on anything electronic.” i mean really. anyway, the words of your reblog have no depth or meaning to me since i’m reading them in electronic form, but u tried it
LMAO I CAN’T
go sniff a book and get the fuck off tumblr bc ur electronic words mean nothing 2 me
BUT GUYS IT’S NOT A REAL BOOK B/C YOU CAN’T SMELL IT
YOU CAN’T RUN YOUR TONGUE UP ITS SPINE
YOU CAN’T WHISPER SWEET NOTHINGS IN WHAT YOU PERCEIVE TO BE ITS EAR
do you not realise how creepy you sound
you’re reading a fucking paperback not eating pussy
Lesser form of book…
.

hideous crowing laughter issued from my mouth
So when I’m congested I’m not actually reading? And taking care of my books so the spines don’t get fucked up is not reading too?
The fuck is this shit?
Uh, hate to break it to you, but reading the words, however they are presented, is reading. Smelling the book? That’s another sense called SMELL. It is not reading. It is smelling. You are smelling the book. No, you cannot smell electronic books, but that has nothing to do with the actual act of reading, you pretentious twit.
Do you book crusaders even hear yourselves.

I believe there are too many children who need loving parents to deny one group of people adoption rights. A child will benefit from a healthy, loving home, whether the parents are gay or not."

Being a geek is all about your own personal level of enthusiasm, not how your level of enthusiasm measures up to others. If you like something so much that a casual mention of it makes your whole being light up like a halogen lamp, if hearing a stranger fondly mention your favorite book or game is instant grounds for friendship, if you have ever found yourself bouncing out of your chair because something you learned blew your mind so hard that you physically could not contain yourself — you are a geek.
I’m incredibly biased, of course, but based on that last paragraph, I think we geeks sound like pretty awesome people to be around. So why, then, the lingering social stigma?
"What It Means To Be A Geek - The Mary Sue
Great little analysis on the changing social stigma of “geekhood” … the detail-oriented passionate pursuit of very specific knowledge. I think networks like Tumblr and Facebook let people find that social connection that used to be missing from their once-lonely passions.
In this connected age geeks aren’t outcasts, because their allies don’t have to be right next to them. They can be thousands of miles away, never meet, and know each other completely.
